Making the move from OC to LA (or "beginners LA" aka Long Beach)

It was my final weekend of living in the bubble, and it was the closure of an amazing year of living with my best friend aka soul sister aka "dayuno" aka real cousin.  In celebration I visited my favorite view point, brunched and grabbed some gelato - you know Southern California thangsss.

My favorite viewpoint.

Brunch at The White House in Laguna Beach, CA

Gelato from Gelato Paradiso in Laguna Beach, CA

I'm really trying to get into photography and editing, so please bear with me.

Until next time!

Post Comedy Show Review

As promised, I said I would review the FREE Comedy show I attended last Tuesday!
I will rate on a scale of 1-5, with 1 being horrible and 5 excellent.

The lineup:

Nick Guerra, Finalist of Last Comic Standing - 3.5
Nick kicked off the show and warmed up the crowd with jokes about his lesbian look, his short height, difficulties of men meeting women while clubbing, and fighting in public with your girlfriend. All around he did a good job of getting the crowd going and was a great lead off comedian.

Shaun Latham - 4
Shaun came on after Nick.  Not sure if maybe he dealt with a lot of issues in connection with his lazy eye, but it seems to have effected him so much that it made up a big portion of the beginning of his skit. I was already assuming he was going to be a "dud", until he started joking around about the PWR 106 commercials and how "urban" they make them.  I have been a PWR 106 listener since I was pretty much born, so he definitely won me over with this portion of his skit.  It was so hilarious it had me in tears.  Although, half of the audience was of Caucasian descent and really didn't get it, I was really thankful he wasn't afraid to use the material.  It really made my night, and Shaun won me over with it.  He did a great job! I look forward to keeping my eye out for him on television.

Kristin Key - 3

Kristen Key, aka lovechild of Ellen Degeneres and Jane Lynch - her words not mine, was pretty impressive.  At first, she joked about how much she looked like Ellen and Jane, and then she moved on to raunchier stuff like "lesbian activity".  To me, its not really my cup of tea.  But, it was okay once we got through it. Eventually she got to her good stuff.  Comedy while folk singing.  When she came out with her guitar I was curious as to whether a) she would be good at it; and b) whether it would take up her whole skit?  I really didn't want to sit through a mini-comedic concert, however the amount of time she incorporated her 2 songs was just enough.  She definitely has that fun comedian personality, similar to that of Amy Schumer.  One to watch out for.

Michael Yo - 4
Last, but not least, Michael Yo.  Going into the show, I was expecting only Michael Yo to really come through.  However, as you can see most of the comedians brought their A game.  However, like a seasoned pro, Michael Yo surveyed the audience and performed to the crowd of mostly middle-aged Caucasians and a good amount of Asians.  He did throw in a few jokes for the younger crowd and the minorities in the room, but mostly catered to the "adult over 35 crowd".  Although, he limited his material he was still great to watch live.  He did not disappoint.  I do have to say Michael Yo is definitely appreciative of his fans.  Immediately after closing the show he was out in the lobby ready to meet, greet and take pictures with his fans, including me!  Although, I did as for a double-whammie with him and Nick Guerra!

Hopefully you have all enjoyed my review!  Until next time!

Free Comedy Show Tickets?! Pleasant Surprise!

So, my boss was purchasing his tickets for the Dana Point Food, Wine and Music Festival yesterday and after his purchase he was notified by Eventbrite of free tickets to the Irvine Improv!  He forwarded the email and I got to wondering whether it would be worth it or not.  I felt like maybe they would have under-par comedians that I wouldn't want to see whether the tickets were free or not.  Or, on the upside, it would be a delightful surprise of a humorous comedian line-up.  I figured I had free time anyway, so why not give it a try?!

Procrastination has not eaten me alive!

Happy New Year Amigos! Hope you all have had a wonderful 2012, I know mine ended pretty sour.  But, "hey" that is life!  However, I have started 2013 with a boom, and cannot wait for what the universe may have in store for me for the rest of the year.  As said time and time again, I am REALLY (can you read caps?) trying to blog regularly.  So hopefully tomorrow I will have something juicy (that word makes me hungry) for you?  Tonight should be interesting, I am off to my 4th cardio kickboxing class at Team Oyama.  My cousin, crazy Celeste, as you will grow to know her, insisted we get our asses in shape this year.  Not that we are like 4x4 IN-N-OUT dreamers, but a little tightening up "here and there" can go a long way! I think i'm getting ancy to do a TEAM OYAMA review.  Possibly, my blog for tomorrow....

...till then

SOLD OUT UO Sample was a Blessing in Disguise

So today my friend Stacey (check out her blog Feather Revolution and her online store ModishHippie) and I had planned to check out the UO Sample sale today, I mean you can't beat $50 for all you can jam in a bag right?  However, before taking off to LA I thankfully checked the website to get the address to find out it had been SOLD OUT! After getting over my 2 minute depression of missing out on rad deals at UO we switched gears and decided to find treasures at thrift stores.  SOLD OUT SALE = BLESSING IN DISGUISE.  On our way to attack the thrift stores we stumbled upon a community garage sale where we scored MAJOR!

First, I scored this dope sheer bright red blouse.  Details Detail Details, right? The thing i loved about this top was not only the fact that it was $2 but that both the cuffs were slit and they flowed so dreamy!
Next, we found a jewelry man and I got this cute lil' pinky ring for $1
Last and best thing I found today had to be my leather cape! Actually got to give credit to Stacey on this one, she found it first! Can't beat $3!
Once we finished the community yard sale we were off to the thrift stores! First one to hit was a winner. I found these awesome print pants! $3
they're a pretty odd print, but on one of my chillaxing days i figured i could work wit' em...lol..We hit a few more shops up but found no treasure! Finally at our last stop I found what I had been on the hunt for for quite some time. I've been searching for an old pair of high waisted jeans to turn into frayed cutoffs and I FOUND THEM! Not only were they perfect but they were also Harley Davidson which just is so awesome for how i plan on rocking them!  I wish I had taken a before picture but this is what they look like after cutting them into shorts and putting holes in them.  They haven't gone in the washer yet so they are ready just yet.  When they are done I will repost so you can see the outcome. Oh yeah did I mention $.50.

Such a great dayy!!!

...ohhh yeahhh i rocked this badboy today...I bought it about a week ago at a thrift store near my 9-5 loves it! $4
